Dear students and parents,
亲爱的同学们，家长们，
Welcome to join CQSS! Hope you can spend an enjoyable and meaningful summer in the next two months. As this might be the first time for most of you to join an international school and study Canadian classes, here are some suggestions for you to make a better preparation for the upcoming new school year.
欢迎你们加入青岛九中中加班（CQSS）大家庭！希望你们能在接下来的两个月里度过一个愉快而有意义的夏天。这可能是你们中大多数人第一次进入国际班，第一次接触和学习加拿大课程，为了更好地迎接新学年，我们准备了三点建议给高一的同学们，希望能对大家有所帮助。
1. Spend your time wisely and dare to try new things. Two months sounds very long, but it can end up like a dream on a midsummer night. Time is not visible until you try to grasp it using your plans and actions. In this summer, you can do some traveling to a place that you always want to, learn how to play a musical instrument/sport that you have never tried before, or even learn to do some house chores to help your parents. In these experiences, you might find what your passions are and what you really like. Remember that you will never know if you never try, so take some adventures in this summer and you might find some surprise.
第一，聪明地利用时间，勇于尝试新事物。两个月听起来很长，但它也可以短暂如仲夏一梦。时间是看不见的，除非你试图用计划和行动去充实它，把时间具体化、有形化。在这个夏天，你可以去一直想去的地方旅行，学习如何演奏一种新的乐器或尝试一种新的运动，可以帮父母做一些家务。在你做事情的过程中，你可能会发现真正喜欢和真正热爱的事情。记住，如果你不曾或者没有勇气去尝试，你永远不会知道答案。所以，在这个夏天勇敢地去尝试新事物，你可能会发现一些新惊喜。
2. Find every opportunity to practice your English every day. English is the most important element for every international student, and this also works for every student at CQSS. You will have to study all the subjects (math, science, business, etc.) in English in the Canadian classes here, so your English level will determine how well and how fast you can learn. There are many ways to improve your English, and the easiest way is to find an English book and read a few pages every day. Besides that, you can also watch English movies, listen to English radios and even do some English activities. All in all, your English and attitude determine how successful you can be.
第二，每天利用各种资源各种机会练习英语。对于每一个国际学生来说，英语都是重中之重，对于中加班的学生来说也不例外。在中加班，所有的科目，像是数学、科学、商科等等都是全英语授课，因此，你的英语水平将直接决定你能学得多好、多快。英语的重要性再怎么强调也不为过，所以大家务必在暑假重视英语听说读写能力的提高。当然，提高英语能力有很多方法，最简单的方法就是找一本英语书，每天读几页（文末有书单推荐）。除此之外，你还可以看英语电影，听英语广播，甚至参加一些英语类的活动。总而言之，你的英语水平和学习态度决定了你能在中加班取得多大的成功。
3. Before this school year starts, think about how you want to spend the next three years and where you want to be after that. Based on our observations, students who are successful always have a clear and firm goal. Once this goal is set, your journey in the next three years will have a clear path. All you need to do is to follow that path with measurable steps. All the students need to think about these two questions when you come, and it is better for you to have a specific answer before moving on to grade 11.The earlier you can find the answer, the more time you will have to plan that path.
第三，在这个学年开始之前，认真思考你将如何度过接下来的高中三年，以及三年之后你想去哪里。根据我们观察，成功的学生总会提前就设定好一个明确而坚定的目标。一旦设定了这个目标，你未来三年的旅程就有了清晰的路径。你要做的就是沿着这条路走下去，踏实地走好每一步。所有即将进入中加班的同学们，希望你们在这个暑假除了适当的放松之外，同时也要认真严肃地思考这两个问题，最好在升入11年级之前自己心中都有一个具体的答案。你越早找到答案，你就有越多的时间来规划这条道路。
4.To make the second suggestion more specific, here is a list of books/resources that you can refer to in this summer.
